Why do the wicks separate?Updated 2 years ago

Our wicks are made of two coils of cotton and one core coil made of paper and twisted together. These three coils are held together by wax on the wick itself. When the wick is attached to the candle vessel it goes through a heating and reheating process before the wax is added to the vessel and is then cooled and reheated and cooled again.  Occasionally, the wick will come untwisted because the wax holding the coils together has melted and cooled and melted again. It can also happen when Votivo candles are twisted and packed in tissue paper. The wick can sometimes be pressed into the wax or separate because of the friction from the tissue. These simply need to be twisted back together and lit.  When burned following our instructions on the bottom label, they will burn properly. This is not a defect or damage and falls within our acceptable quality standards.
